It's hard to believe that February is gone and March is here - daffodils, basketball, daylight savings time and one of husband's favorites - American Idol! I am looking forward to catching up on my knitting projects, like the numerous pairs of clogs I need to make. A great way to use up some of my leftover wools. Come by and check out our new yarns! Loopy Redux

If you missed my Loopy Scarf class, come in on Saturday and I'll show you the 'ropes'. It really is a fun little thing to do.

I'm thinking about the new Venezia that is in the store, and Cascade has a free pattern for this yarn, called the "Tilting Block" jacket. It has a long line, which makes it perfect for imperfect figures (who do YOU know that has a perfect one????) and the pattern is not difficult. Take a look at it at www.cascadeyarns.com and let me know if you would be interested in a class. The colors for this yarn are wonderful, and this is just the right weight for a spring/summer wrap. I have finished a shrug in this yarn, which you really need to see, and Jane is working on a scarf.

There are also a couple of new vest patterns using the Poems Puzzle, which is a quick knit, but which would get you into the "stockpile for Christmas" mode of knitting.

Loopy-ness!

Those of you who know me know that I can get a little crazy sometimes, and boy, are we getting crazy with the Loopy Scarf Class! It's not hard, just a new silly, fun technique. With all the new yarns in the shop, you'll be able to make a truly original, wearable piece of art! So join me the next two Mondays - Jan. 23 and 30 - at four-thirty and add this great little project to your resume.

All this cool, rainy weather has had me knitting more and more. My MIL has had some health issues over the last few weeks, and the knitting helps me relax and think positive thoughts on her behalf. As a matter of fact, knitting has always helped in times of uncertainty, and I KNOW it helps you as well. So come join me Monday, and on Saturday mornings for a relaxing, fun time!

As the holidays end, I'm beginning to feel more in control of my time, and that means a late-afternoon class for the knitters ready to step out and do something a little more advanced. I've narrowed the pattern search, and will be ready to announce within the next few days!

One of the things I love about knitting is the ability to tailor the fit on lots of garments, and it ain't as hard as it sounds. I'm here on Saturdays to help you do that, and to answer any questions you might have.

It's hard to believe there are only 21 days til Christmas! We sang our Cantata at church this morning which certainly helped to put me in the spirit. We made our traditional ginger bread cookies this afternoon which was lots of fun as well. Only 2 more stockings to finish and I'll be ready! I keep coming up with last minute knitting projects such as a warm pair of clogs or slippers, a cute bandana cowl (my newest "stylish" project) or pair of "warm woolen mittens" which may or may not get finished. Are you ready? Do you need some more ideas? Come by the shop and we'll be glad to help you get ready.

Sounds of September

September is just about over, Christmas is around the corner and my needles are clicking right along! I am trying to finish projects as usual, but there are so many distractions- new yarns, new magazines and books, the Marble Festival, and hunting. I have been working on a baby gift using Cascade Cherub Aran and it is wonderfully soft! Come see me on Saturdays and I'll help you start a new project or finish one!

Jane has come through her surgery in great shape, and we are looking forward to resuming normal life! When the kids get back in school and the weather cools down, we just naturally turn to the newest fun knitting project!

We are halfway through the year and only 5 1/2 months away from Christmas! The perfect time to start those presents. Jane has several projects up her sleeve and the magazines are full of neat gifts. Perhaps this is your year to try something new - a dishcloth, pillow for the house or a scarf from one of our new yarns! I have just about finished my shrug and can't wait to start something new. We have new yarns and new books that I can't wait to get into. We have some beautiful new sock yarns from Cascade with lots of free patterns on their website. Sock yarns are not just for socks! I can't wait to try out the new Heritage Silk.

Skirt is finished!

My skirt is finished and I must say, I am rather proud of it. Might even do another! I am now in the process of knitting a lacy bolero with the leftover yarn and some bamboo yarn from a vest I took apart. I hope to have it almost finished by Saturday. We had Cynthia from Cascade come for a visit last week- new stuff coming and more later in the Fall. We still have a good selection of novelty yarns for those quick lacey scarves-a perfect gift for Christmas and never too late to get an early start! Come sit a spell with me on Saturday. We have a good air-conditioner!
